The Faroes Workshop 2023
a guided landscape & travel photography tour
for photo beginners and enthusiasts
An Atlantic Adventure
Grab your camera and be ready to explore remote places, wild untouched landscapes and rough coastlines. Where wind and surf formed a unique archipelago in the North Atlantic. Where waterfalls feed the ocean and lakes are floating above sea level. Where rough coastlines are in harmony with green, fertile valleys.
One of the most wonderful places to hike are the Faroe Islands – a remote archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean with an incredible beauty and a great variety of remarkable hot spots in relative close distance.
Famous waterfalls, floating lakes and several hundred meters high cliffs framed by snow covered mountain peaks with wet brown-greenish meadows and a restless surf will be our place for this landscape & travel photo tour.
6 days adventure, 5 nights in a 4-star hotel
Tour Dates
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
The Tour
Arrival
First day is all about arrival on the Faroe Islands and our basecamp in Tórshavn – the capitol of the archipelago. We will have an opening dinner and time to get to know each other and talk about the upcoming week.
Adventure Time
Walk, hike & shoot! The next days are all about exploring the islands. From minutes walk to longer hikes we will visit different natural hot spots where I will explain how I shoot and what I’m looking for and where you have enough time to shoot on your own. I’m open to any questions during the whole trip, so if you need guidance I will be happy to assist you during your shoots and give you feedback. As we are on a rock in the Atlantic between Scotland and Iceland weather can change fast so we keep the exact schedule flexible for those 4 days. In the evening I will talk about my workflow and editing process and there will be time for you to edit and share images, insights and stories with the group.
We will have a closing dinner on the last night in Tórshavn.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish
Departure from our Hotel Føroyar in Tórshavn and flight home.
Your Guide
I’m Chris (@chris.zielecki) and traveling the northern countries is my addiction since the early age of 16. It’s where my passion for photography started and I’m more than happy to work as a full-time, self-employed photographer since several years now. I’ve roamed Scandinavia in several trips and made remarkable memories on photo tours to the incredible landscapes of Iceland, Svalbard, Greenland and the Faroe Islands during the last years. My home base in Hamburg, Germany, where I share my flat and garden with the best cat in the world.
Places to visit
During our 5 days we will visit a couple of remarkable venues on the Faroe Islands. Some are located right beside the road, some need to be explored with a few hours hike. This maps helps to orientate yourself on the archipelago and highlights some of the spots we plan to visit. For more images of these locations checkout the tour’s Pinterest Board.
Our Basecamp
Our basecamp is the 4-star Hotel Føroyar located in the hills right above the capital Tórshavn. Embedded into the landscapes architecture, bedrooms with ocean view, great breakfast and meals. The best stay to recharge your and your camera’s batteries after a long day hiking and exploring the Faroe Islands.

Is the tour for photographers only?
No! The tour is for everyone who enjoys nordic landscapes and loves to capture its beauty with a camera. You don’t need a specific knowledge level to photograph during the tour and I’m happy to assist you with your camera with every question you bring up. So: just bring a camera!
Do I have to train my fitness before taking the tour?
No, a basic level of fitness / health is fine. But be aware: a healthy condition is required. Depending on the spot we visit, a longer hike of up to 3-5 hours can be possible. And it can be steep and slippery.
Where do we stay?
Our homebase will be in the islands capital Tórshavn. We stay in the lovely Hotel Føroyar in the hills with a wonderful view over the city and the harbour. You can choose between a double and a single bed option. Our basecamp might change though, depending on availability.
Can I pay in rates?
The total sum of 1997€ incl. VAT for a double bedroom is split up in two payments:
750€ on booking and 1247€ four weeks before the workshop.
How large is the group?
7 people max, 4 people min. Healthy conditions required; no special training needed (see above).
How to get to the Faroe Islands?
Most flights to the Faroe Islands are handled over Copenhagen and are served by Atlantic Airways and SAS. But there are also direct flights from England, Iceland and Norway. I highly recommend booking with Atlantic Airways as it’s the local Faroe Airways and especially equipped to land even in foggy situations. There is also a ferry from Denmark if you want some extra adventure with a bumpy 3-days-North-Atlantic ship ride.
